It is slowly unfolding that sense of indeterminacy that has conditioned these two months and we can see signs of slow, gradual, prudent and disciplined opening to the world outside.
Thanks to your readiness and the commitment you are showing, we have been able to develop a significant, stimulating and engaging learning context by redefining the teaching methods completely.
Our university has just provided some indications about the activities that will be carried out by the end of July, and we have rapidly strengthened our technological resources and digital skills.
As appropriate in an evolving situation, we have proceeded one step at a time, in line with the institutional indications at regional and national level, of the Ministry of University and Research.
Now it is time to focus on completing the process of sedimenting our knowledge, skills and competence, teaching and forms of assessment, course by course.
These are the points of reference for good understanding and action.
Every professor is a guarantor ofthe learning process and the characteristics of his or her teaching. Each professor knows what and, above all, how to teach in line with the aims and objectives of his or her course, the teaching methods developed and the methods of assessment.
The frequency of the lectures given online corresponds to what was initially set out in the course programmes at the beginning of the semester.
- As scheduled at the beginning of the academic year, we confirm the exam and graduation sessions calendars of our 2020 summer session to guarantee certainty and definiteness in the planning of teaching and study activities. We have also found specific solutions for international courses taught in English.
- We are managing the issues concerning internships interrupted due to this health emergency in collaboration with the host institutions, as well as international exchanges that are closely linked to these programmes.
- We confirm the aims, contents and competence of our courses as declared and formalized in the syllabus programmes, available on each professor’s official page and published in the student guide.
- We confirm the value of ECTS credits, as a set of learning activities including online teaching, exercises, applications, individual study - giving greater weight to the study of texts, articles and teaching materials.
- We give continuity to the use of Blackboard as an e-learning platform for communication and knowledge transfer through the provision of materials, articles, problems to analyse and solve, tests and self-assessment methods, synchronous and a-synchronous video-lessons, live feedback and progress tests.
- Final tests will be carried out remotely through the different available technologies: oral tests through Microsoft Teams' technology, written tests through Blackboard with the support of proctoring and anti-plagiarism systems, mixed written and oral tests. This can guarantee a correct execution in safe conditions.
- Each professor will inform about the examination methods considered consistent with the aims of the teaching and the didactic path adopted during the semester and will simulate, as far as possible, the type of method chosen. This communication will be given using the web pages of each course.
- To sit the exams, it is necessary to use a PC (more stable than tablets or smartphones) with an updated operating system and browser (Firefox, Chrome or Safari), permanently connected to the Internet, equipped with minimal multimedia communication devices such as headphones with microphone and webcam.
The same applies to the exams as set and undertaken by everyone at the beginning of the academic year in the Code of Ethics of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore with particular emphasis on how to behave when participating in the life of the University. With reference to the course of evaluation the reference is art.35 "break rules governing the proper carrying out of any type of assessments or tests, including programme admission exams, competition examinations, competitions, examinations, assignments, reports, presentations, dissertations, teaching and research assessments." and further paragraphs.

after a first week of a complicated and challenging experience.
I would like to share an update on the upcoming decisions agreed with our Rector, the Academic Senate and the Coordinators of the Study Programmes.
Your and our expectations are high, very high and need a special and mutual capacity to ensure the quality of learning processes.
I emphasise that each of us is the guarantor of each learning process within the specificity of the content of one' own course and each one of us knows what to do and, above all, how to do it.
Learning processes require that for each course there are precise indications on what needs to be done in order to deepen its contents and objectives. Each course has its own specific features, materials and methods of in-depth study. Hence, the different use of distance learning methods to give continuity to the courses, with various solicitations and tools.
For years we have had blended degree programmes with extensive use of e-learning platforms and virtual interactive activities. For some subjects, these are experiences suitable to the development of teaching, not necessarily for othermore technical and normative contents.
The essential points:
COURSES TAUGHT IN ITALIAN
For our courses, the teaching activity that begun three weeks ago continues through our Blackboard e-learning platform with asynchronous video lectures, additional materials, tutorials, assignments, self-assessment tests, webinars, live feedback, forums, reception of students via Skype, each according to his or her own experience, each one consistent with the content for which he or she is responsible. There will be synchronisation with the established programme and calendar (during class hours all the functional supports for the topic of the scheduled lecture will be available), to ensure the continuity of teaching and learning activities, and the interaction with students.
We chose to transform the week of intermediate tests (now cancelled) into a week dedicated to teaching.
The calendar for the summer exam session remains unchanged.
Undegraduate programmes’ graduation sessions (proclamation mode)
The undergraduate programme Examination Panels will be composed of three professors andwill meet on the dates already established and deliberated in the academic calendar (no postponements are foreseen) to define the final degree grade. The final grade will be sent via iCatt to each individual graduate. A "Graduation Day" will be scheduled when the contingent situation will be stabilised.
Graduate programmes’ graduation session (individual discussion mode)
The Examination Panels of the graduate degrees will be composed of three professors (no longer five), will meet on the dates established by the academic calendar already determined (no postponements are foreseen) to discuss with each candidate the contents of the thesis work, in a remote video-conference mode. Collaboration and streaming are guaranteed. The final graduation grade will be defined as a standing session. The final grade will then be sent via iCatt to each individual graduate.
We are experimenting and producing original solutions and acquiring pedagogical skills that will further qualify the quality of our teaching.
We are keeping a high level of attention, by involving ourselves in the activities and motivating us to deepen our knowledge.

The "Actions to contrast and contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus on the entire national territory" released yesterday evening, 4 March, lead us to activate solutions and activities that are different and complementary to traditional classroom teaching. News, information, releases are constantly evolving.
No lack of focus on what is happening in our cities and the situation is constantly evolving.
According to what we have learned, all the university institutions will remain closed until 15 March. We are learning a lot, all of us.
A working table between Rector, Deans and Administrative Management is active to ensure continuity of operations and action and the implementation of realistic solutions, given the resources available.
Each Faculty defines specific solutions on the basis of the characteristics of the training projects, the size and timing of the teaching.
This is the point for our Faculty. In agreement with the Areas and the Degree Programme Coordinators, after hearing the Student Representatives, after hearing ILAB and the Lecture & Exams offices, I would like to share with you all this orientation, in a state of exceptionality, in order to guarantee as a whole Faculty of Economics the possibility of providing continuity and quality in the teaching activity, with the quality we are capable of and guarantee.
Here are the fixed points that concern us:
• to keep the calendars of exam calls, theses and calls for applications for graduate degrees;
• to guarantee programme contents (we avoid compromising courses’ objectives and the competence expected);
• to consider the content requested and developed in this period as an integral part of the programme and subject to assessment in the exam sessions;
• to keep the value of the Credit, - training credit, as a set of learning activities between in presence tuition, practical training, application, self-study - giving more importance to the study of texts and articles and material made available on the platform, for this particular period;
• to use our Blackboard e-learning platform as a means of communication and knowledge transfer where you can find the course programme, materials, articles, questions to be diagnosed and solved, tests and self-assessment methods, possible video lessons already produced and commented slides.
Each of us is a guarantor of the learning processes and characteristics of our own teaching. We know what to teach, and above all, how to do it.
We keep our attention and motivation high for the deepening and development of knowledge.
